Artists Against Apartheid Archive (AAA-A)

I am very proud to have co-founded (with Jerry Dammers and Dali Tambo) Artists Against Apartheid and worked there from 1986-90, and to have helped to put on all the events and concerts we did including the Clapham Common Concert in 1986 attended by over 200,000 (see the video we made of it called "Freedom Beat" here) and the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute concert at Wembley Stadium in 1988 seen by 600 million people worldwide.

At present I am compiling the Artists Against Apartheid Archive with Jerry and we have over 1500 documents (mainly press clippings) already, which we are hoping to put on a website.  If you have any material, especailly photos of events or gigs then please send them or contact me on info@artistsagainstapartheid.org.uk (please note that while I will try to reply to everyone quickly I am doing this in my spare time).

In the meantime I have put up two of my own items of which I am particularly proud.  The first is a letter from Dali that my lovely wife, Aine, secretly obtained for my 50th birthday.  The second is Jerry's page from the official programme of the Republic of South Africa's President's Award Ceremony for National Orders 2014 on Freedom Day, 27 April 2014 in Pretoria, that Jerry was kind enough to invite me to when he received The Order of the Companions of OR Tambo (Dali's father).
